Happy Friday, friends. I had the honor of meeting some fabulous women this week — all moms of multiples — when I gave a talk about Good Enough Is the New Perfect in Chicago. The women were interesting and engaging, and I’m delighted to have had the chance to talk motherhood with them. Moms of Multiples: Thanks for having me.
One of the topics we discussed that night was an issue that often comes up when I’m speaking about the New Perfect: flexibility
and the ability to re-adjust when necessary. I wrote earlier this week about about my own ever-evolving priorities, especially where nutrition is concerned. This is a key component of Good Enough: When we’re on a journey, change is a good thing. It’s what allows us to adjust as expectations, needs and interests shift.
It’s also what keeps things interesting.
So, with that in mind, The New Perfect is making some small changes to our format; namely, we’re trading our schedule for a more free-flowing format. Rather than save the links we want to share with you for our weekly “Five-Bite Friday,” we’re just going to post them on the blog when we see them, accompanied by a bit of our commentary as a conversation starter. We hope you’ll chime in with your thoughts, just as some of you did when we shared that piece about co-sleeping earlier this week. We’ll still share relevant guests posts and blog about topics that relate to work/life balance, perfectionism, family life and career, but we won’t necessarily save them for Sunday afternoons and Wednesday mornings.
Hollee and I are so excited about all the big things ahead now that Good Enough Is the New Perfect has been on the market for more than six months. We’re both speaking regularly and continuing to write for the ABA Journal. Hollee is enjoying her work as a law professor (and a self-help guru), and Becky is in the early stages of a new writing project. (More about that later).
So today we want to know: What’s new in your life? How have you changed and evolved in the past year — and what are you doing differently as a result?

Five-Bite Friday: Fall Back Edition
Happy Friday, friends. I had a great time last night speaking at an event hosted by the Medill Alumni Club of Chicago. Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism holds a special place in my heart for many reasons, not the least of which is this: That’s where Hollee and I met. I won’t say how many years ago … What I will do is serve up our weekly five bites of news and commentary on families, parenting, career and work/life balance.
Happy weekend — and don’t forget to turn your clocks back Saturday night!
